Officer Arrested After Slapping Kyanja Fuel Attendant

Police have confirmed the arrest of an officer filmed assaulting a female fuel station attendant in Kyanja over an unpaid Shs30,000 bill.

The officer, identified as ASP Clive Nsiima of the Counter Terrorism Directorate, was captured on CCTV slapping the cashier twice and then boasting about his immunity from the law, stating he could “slap you even with these cameras here and tomorrow we go to court.”

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the arrest on X, shortly after Director of Criminal Investigations AIGP Tom Magambo condemned the “isolated behaviour” and assured the public that an internal investigation was underway.

Nsiima is expected to face charges of assault and threatening violence.

The highly viral incident has sparked widespread public outrage, with Ugandans demanding accountability and expressing doubt that the officer will be fully punished, citing the impunity demonstrated in the recording.
