Mystery in Kamuli as Missing Man’s Body Discovered in Pit-Latrine
The Police in Kamuli District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Moses Mugowa, a 51-year-old man whose body was found in an abandoned pit-latrine.
Mugowa, a resident of Bukapere B, Kasambira Town Council, had been missing since July 8.
According to Busoga North Police spokesperson Micheal Kasadha, Mugowa’s family reported him missing to Kasambira Police Station the day after he disappeared.
Despite an ongoing search, it wasn’t until July 14 that his decomposing body was discovered in a pit-latrine in Butuma Zone, a neighboring village.
“A strange stench attracted the attention of the community before it was established that it was Mugowa’s body,” Kasadha told Nile Post.
A team of police officers from Kamuli Central Police Station visited the scene, and the body was subsequently taken to Kamuli General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. A death inquiry file has been opened at CPS Kamuli.
Kasadha speculated that Mugowa might have been drunk and unable to find his way home, leading to his accidental fall into the pit-latrine.
The police are continuing their investigations to determine the exact cause of death.
